UM Dining’s Iron Griz Restaurant
UM Dining’s Iron Griz restaurant opened almost eight months ago and it isn’t quite what they thought it would be. Photographer Nick Chrestenson talked with UM Dining Director, Byron Drake. Drake says the restaurant is adapting in an effort to please their local customers. The Iron Griz is in the process of improving their wine selection, hosting trivia nights, and possibly even having karaoke in the near future. They hope that their state of the art beer tap will also help get more people through the doors.
PEAS Farm Gives Back
It’s harvest time at the PEAS Farm and the Program in Ecological Agriculture and Society is giving back to the community. Photographer Peter Riley and reporter Sojin Josephson got the scoop. Join in the fun this Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the PEAS Farm Annual Fall Harvest Festival. There will be pumpkin carving, cider tasting, live music and more.
Weed Restoration Efforts Help Maintain Native Plants on Mount Sentinel
Mount Sentinel is composed of over 1,000 acres of native prairie. But according to UM Natural Areas, invasive plants are taking over the mountain. UM News Reporter Sarah Yovetich and Photojournalist Joe Lesar hiked up the M and discovered that noxious weeds aren’t easy to control.

UM Forestry Class Cleans Up After Fire Season
The 2015 fire season will go down in the record books as one of the most devastating in Montana history. A U of M Forestry class is keeping the community safe from the aftermath of the fires in the Missoula area. UM News reporter Sean Robb and photographer Ryan Groh went into the woods to see the hands-on class at work.
Montana Code School
Programming and coding has become an extremely profitable and marketable skill in the last few years, and now a program at the University of Montana is aiming to teach this skill to the Missoula community through the Montana Code School. UM News reporter Joe Hodgson has the story.

The Flagship Program Celebrates 20 Years
The Flagship Program celebrated twenty years of success with live music and free ice cream at Big Dipper Ice Cream in Missoula. The independent non-profit group offers free after school activities at eight area schools. The Flagship Program provides affordable childcare for families and a safe environment for continued learning. Board Member Peter Knox comments on where he hopes to see Flagship go in the next twenty years.
Pocket Points Takes Over UM
A new free app is taking over UM and it benefits not only students, but local businesses too. Reporter Sarah Yovetich and Photojournalist Carrie Miller met with one UM student who was already seeing perks of Pocket Points.
