Photo Essay: Award-Winning Violinist Performs with Missoula Symphony
Held at the Dennison Theater at University of Montana, the Missoula Symphony performed on September 30th and October 1st with the help of a special guest. Mayuko Kamio, an award-winning violinist from Japan, appeared with the Symphony for the two performances, both of which were called “Starstruck”. Kamio was the gold-medalist in the International Tchaikovsky Competition, and has performed around the world with various symphonies as a soloist.
The Missoula Symphony has been in existence since 1955, and has a mission of “assuring cultural enrichment essential to the quality of life in the Missoula area”, according to their website. On certain occasions, they have the opportunity to bring in guest performers like Kamio, exposing Missoula to classical music talent from beyond our community.
