UM News Maroon Show December 2, 2015
This week on UM News photographer Nick Christenson and Reporter Sean Robb phoned in to McMurdo station Antarctica to learn about sea spiders. One student is giving back to the local community by volunteering at the Humane Society of Western Montana. Also, Photographer Peter Riley explored how pictures with Santa are helping support new research through the UM Gerontology Society. This show is anchored by Dominique Giusti and Sean Robb, and produced by Sarah Yovetich and directed by Andy Anderson.

UM Curry Health Center Medication Disposal Drop Box
The Curry Health Center on campus implemented a medication disposal drop box for the local community. It helps prevent old medications from getting into our water supply. Photographer Ryan Groh went to the pharmacy to get the story.

Active Shooter Response Training
The University of Montana is working to help keep the community safe. With school shootings on the rise, local and campus law enforcement are offering training to students, faculty, and community members on how to react to a shooting. Gerontology Society Hosts Photos with Santa
A well-known elderly celebrity donated his time, and his lap, to the Gerontology Society. The group hosted its fourth annual Photos with Santa event to raise money for the Missoula Memory and Music Project. The non-profit helps those suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia recover lost memories through songs. The documentary Alive Inside is what motivated the Gerontology Society to choose the Missoula Memory and Music Project.
