After School Flagship Program Helps Missoula Kids Learn and Have Fun
University of Montana students are making differences in other classrooms around Missoula. The after school Flagship program provides activities for young Missoula students. Last year alone over 6 thousand children participated. UM News Reporter Mackenzie Lee hungout with the kids to learn more.
National Fossil Day at UM’s Paleontology Center
UM’s Paleontology Center is celebrating National Fossil Day with an evening of events. From 4 to 8 p.m on Wednesday October 16, the center will open its collection room to the public for a lecture, a short film, fossil identification and a children’s room. UM News reporter Fiona Murphy teamed up with photographer Eric Clements to find out what ancient fossils are hiding on the UM campus.
Sunday Sweepers Program Continues to Expand in 2nd Year
Football games at Washington-Grizzly Stadium can leave behind quite the mess in their wake. Last year, the university implemented their Sunday Sweepers program, aiming to expand their post-game clean-up efforts beyond campus to nearby streets as well. The initiative has been very well-received and appreciated by local residents thus far. Reporter Evan Rau has the story.

The third year of UM’s Tobacco Ban

Foreign UM Professors Endure Tough Process to Remain in Country
German citizens Sonja Grimmsmann and Martin Twer have made Missoula their home for over a decade. After attending U of M as students in the late 90’s, both went on to become professors in their respective departments. A series of visas has allowed them to live and work in the U.S. up to this point. Unfortunately, their continued residency here is far from guaranteed. Reporter Evan Rau has the story.
