UM students struggle with health insurance prices

Insurance stillStudents at the University of Montana are required to have health insurance while they’re enrolled. But about 18 percent avoid the rule because the University doesn’t require proof of insurance. There are roughly 2300 students enrolled under UM’s policy and others are with their parents insurance plans. Curry Health Center takes in students for medical treatments and appointment whether they are insured or not. Reporter Shane Gillette checks in to find more on UM’s health insurance issues.

University of Montana’s GrizTones Acapella Group Looks Ahead to a Big Future

GrizTones is in it’s second year on campus and is raising money to participate in a collegiate acapella competition.  They mainly mash-up Top 40 songs. Reporter Mackenzie Lee tagged along with the crooners at one of their rehearsals.

UM News Reporter Dustin Askim and Wyatt Melin swung by Lady Griz practice to see Montana legend Robin Selvig in his element. Selvig has led UM to 33 winning seasons, 28 20-win seasons, 23 conference championships and 20 NCAA tournaments. He has an overall record of 799-255, and will look for win No. 800 Monday, November 18th at Dahlberg Arena against the University of Portland Pilots.

Can the Bobcats Food Drive

CanTheCatspkg.01The annual Can the Bobcats food drive is underway in Missoula. Donations Benefit the Missoula Food Bank, who serve more than 16,000 people annually. The Missoula Food Bank is hoping to collect 100,000 pounds of food this year. UM News reporter Fiona Murphy found out how the competition is stacking up this year.

University of Montana Students Raise Money for National Children’s Hospital

En Garde! UM Fencing Club Offers Public Workshop

1113-FencingThe University of Montana Fencing Club invites the public to learn the ways of the sword.  The club hosts practices from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm every Tuesday and Thursday, and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Sundays in the Schreiber Gym.  UM News Reporter Eric Clements and photographer Nate Chapman answered the call to arms.
