Veterans Translate Skills from Military to Course Credit

The Veterans Education and Transition Services Office and University of Montana Admissions use military transcripts to find course equivalents to award credit to those going back to school after enlistment. Reporter Meri DeMarois visited the VETS Office to find out how they streamlined the process enough to help students without hindering them with unnecessary credits.

UM VETS Office is Helping Student Veteran Education

UM VetsUM has established the Veteran’s Education and Transition Services Office to assist veterans and their family members in achieving academic success. Their goals is to provide a positive environment for veterans and family members. Student veterans have access to their mini-kitchen to make quick meals and a lounge area to watch television and relax while waiting for their next class. They also provide a computer lab with printing, scanning, and faxing capabilities and a quiet study lounge for individuals or groups. UM News photographer, Nick Chrestenson, visited the office to get the story.
