UM Student Groups Keep Surrounding Neighborhoods Clean

It’s goal is to bridge the divide between students and the community by picking up garbage and asking residents if they have encountered any issues like noise complaints or vandalism. Reporter Mederios Whitworth-Babb went to campus to find out how ASUM is making sure Missoula’s streets are clean and neighbors are happy.

“Rate My Landlord” website gets mixed reviews from students, landlords

October 23, 2013

Rate My LandlordThe ASUM Off-Campus Renter Center launched its new “Rate My Landlord” website late last spring.  So far, the site is largely unknown to students and property managers, but it is already causing some controversy.  Reporter Kyle Schmauch and photographer Don Fisher talked to student renter Amanda Bryant, Real Estate Management Group Operations Manager Brittni Hertz, and Renter Center Director Katherine Brady.  Bryant reported a bad private landlord on the site after breaking her lease and scrambling to find housing at the start of the school year.  Hertz says the site has been mostly negative toward property managers, but says it could be beneficial for all parties if the public could see it and if it was better regulated.  Brady says the site is just trying to inform students who are at a disadvantage with the rental market in Missoula.
