UM News Silver Show December 2, 2015
This week on UM News Reporter Sojin Josephson and Photographer Joe Hodgson learned about how local and campus law enforcement is working to keep the community safe. And Photographer Ryan Groh discovered new ways the Curry Health Center is preventing prescription medications from getting into the Missoula water supply. Volunteers Making Animals Feel More at Home
Colder weather brings more animals to the humane society which calls for a little extra help around the holidays. Photographer Carrie Miller and reporter Dominique Giusti visited these furry friends looking for a new home.
Gerontology Society Hosts Photos with Santa
A well-known elderly celebrity donated his time, and his lap, to the Gerontology Society. The group hosted its fourth annual Photos with Santa event to raise money for the Missoula Memory and Music Project. The non-profit helps those suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia recover lost memories through songs. The documentary Alive Inside is what motivated the Gerontology Society to choose the Missoula Memory and Music Project.
UM News Maroon Show November 19, 2015
This week on UM News, photographer Ryan Groh and reporter Sarah Yovetich went to the Missoula Food Bank to check out how the community is “Canning the Cats.” Another on campus market, is looking to bring fresh choices to the University community. One non-profit organization gives kids the gift of Griz tickets. This show is anchored by Sean Robb and Sojin Josephson, and produced by Dominique Giusti and Joe Lesar.

This week on UM News photographer Peter Riley and Reporter Sojin Josephson found a hidden gem at the campus library that can help with presentations, or movie making. One UM class is also receiving hands on experience by managing local bands. Also, don’t forget to donate to Can the Cats before the rivalry game on Saturday. UM VETS Office is Helping Student Veteran Education
UM has established the Veteran’s Education and Transition Services Office to assist veterans and their family members in achieving academic success. Their goals is to provide a positive environment for veterans and family members. Student veterans have access to their mini-kitchen to make quick meals and a lounge area to watch television and relax while waiting for their next class. They also provide a computer lab with printing, scanning, and faxing capabilities and a quiet study lounge for individuals or groups. UM News photographer, Nick Chrestenson, visited the office to get the story.

Meet Hooch and Bob
The UM Police Department’s two youngest members, Hooch and Bob, celebrated their first Veterans Day in Missoula. The duo works with their owners, Officer Darren Ginn and Sergeant Rich Zitzka, to help protect students, faculty and Griz fans. Photographer Andy Anderson and UM News reporter Sojin Josephson sniffed around to get the story.
Celebrating Native American Veterans
Once a year, the Salish and Kooteni Veteran Warrior Society brings the community together for Veterans Day to honor those who served. Photographer Joe Hodgson and UM News reporter Dominique Giusti made a trip to Pablo for a closer look.
