Community members give neighborhood park extra love
Reporter Meri DeMarois finds out how Jeanette Rankin Park is being refurbished thanks to the efforts of the University District Neighborhood teaming up with Missoula Parks and Recreation, the Jeanette Rankin Peace Center, and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. The groups are participating in volunteer gardenings to plant native plants in the park.

American Indian Heritage Week brings to light the variety of cultures spanning the University of Montana campus. This year, 2017, marks 50 years of community involvement between a variety of knowledge and experiences. Veterans Translate Skills from Military to Course Credit
The Veterans Education and Transition Services Office and University of Montana Admissions use military transcripts to find course equivalents to award credit to those going back to school after enlistment. Reporter Meri DeMarois visited the VETS Office to find out how they streamlined the process enough to help students without hindering them with unnecessary credits.

Smoke has affected nearly everyone across the state this year due to wildfires, but people are not the only ones feeling the effects. Missoulians Welcome New International Students
Each Semester UM’s International Students and Scholars Department pair up with the Missoula International Friendship Program to spread cultural awareness throughout the community. UM Reporter Mederios Whitworth-Babb went to the program’s annual meet and greet to find out what it means to be a community friend. Citizens who would like to become a community friend can apply online.
Bring Back the Zoo
Montana Griz basketball is bringing back “The Zoo.” UM News reporter Kempson Cross and photographer Spencer Jakobi tell us about plans to pack Dahlberg Arena for every home game. Students get into home games free with their Griz Card and schedules are available online…but the team wants all of Zootown behind them.
Local Kennel and Dog Hiking Company Receives Turf from UM Statium
Used turf from Washington Grizzly Stadium is impacting a local dog business in Missoula. Alpine Canine is using the old stadium turf to improve the kennels. The company is not your ordinary dog kenneling business, it also buses dogs in special buses to the hiking area. Reporter Tasha Cain and Grant Herzog fetched the story.
